With the formulation of the Paris climate goals and the Raw Materials Agreement, the need for “rethinking” has gained momentum. The coalition agreement underlines the need for innovation in the construction and infrastructure sector. The core of the coalition agreement is to provide perspective for addressing the major issues of this decade. The Dutch climate goals are laid down centrally in the Climate Act. To be climate neutral by 2050 at the latest, the government is tightening the 2030 target in the Climate Act to at least 55 percent CO2 reduction. By appointing a Minister of Climate and Energy, the implementation power of the State and co-governments will be strengthened so that the transition can be accelerated.

To achieve a complete transition to 100% circular and carbon-neutral products, Climate Signs was established in early 2020. Within the infra sector ‘signage’, Climate Signs is one of the sustainable innovation engines. We realize new cross-links within sectors and chain partners. The sustainable challenges remain unabated, as a result of which chain cooperation within existing and new production and distribution chains, as well as public-private cooperation, have proven invaluable. The distinctiveness of Climate Signs finds its origin in sustainable thinking and especially doing.

In order to generate maximum sustainable returns, we have built an ecosystem of suppliers, resellers and end users in recent years. To achieve CO2 conversion within the infra-sector signage, a raw material transition must be achieved. Traditional raw materials must be reused if possible (Refurbishing) and recycled raw materials must be applied within a new production cycle.

Only within an open ecosystem can we jointly bring about the sustainable transition. Together with our chain partners, we enable cities and regions to play a pioneering role within (inter)national goals in an accessible and affordable way.

Climate Signs aims to make the world carbon-free through various strategies and approaches:

1. Sustainable Materials: We use 100% recycled and cyclical raw materials for our traffic signs and street and city furniture. By reusing waste materials from the Netherlands, we reduce the need for new raw materials and contribute to the circular economy.
2. CO2-Neutral Production: During the production and distribution stage, we work intensively with our supply chain partners to reduce our CO2 emissions to zero. We use energy-efficient processes, renewable energy sources and compensation programs to achieve carbon-neutral operations.
3. Smart Technology: We integrate digital and SMART connectivity into our traffic signs and street furniture. This enables us to manage and optimize public spaces more efficiently, reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
4. Extended Life Cycles: Through innovation, we strive to extend the product life cycles of our products. We design them to be durable and long-lasting, reducing the need for replacement and the associated CO2 emissions.
5. Awareness and Collaboration: We are committed to raising awareness about the impact of CO2 emissions and the benefits of sustainable road signs. We work closely with municipalities, road authorities and other stakeholders to encourage sustainable choices and jointly pursue a carbon-free future.

What do we do?

In addition, we use smart technologies and digital connectivity to manage public spaces more efficiently. This enables municipalities and road authorities to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
